Diode laser uses small chips of Gallium-Arsenide a semiconductor material as the lasing medium. This laser is not suitable for dark skinned patients but can be readily used for light skinned or white skinned patients. The penetration power is slightly lower than Nd-Yag lasers.
This laser has a penetration power slightly higher than diode lasers but less than Nd-Yag laser. But it has enough incursions to delocalize and destroy the follicle and prevent the hair from growing back
This laser uses the expensive ruby or sapphire for the laser action. This too can be used only on white skinned patients. This laser has the lowest penetration of all lasers but causes less irritation and side effects due to the properties of ruby and sapphire which tend to have a soothing effect.
